Abstract

Aim: In this descriptive study it’s been aimed to determine job stress and the factors that effect those levels in oncology nurses. Method: Sampling of this study consists of 189 oncology nurses who volunteered to participate in research and chosen from 4 hospitals of Health Ministry, 3 university hospitals and 4 private hospitals by random sampling. The questionnai- re form and Job Stressors Scale have been used for collection of the data. Those data have been evaluated by using distribution statistics and non-parametrical tests as Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis tests. Results: Job stress levels of ocology nurses have been found at medium levels in terms of ‘‘Work Role Ambiguity’’ (`x=15.22±4.35), ‘‘Work Role Conflict’’ (`x=24.52±5.58) and ‘‘Work Role Overload’’ (`x=7.98±1.77). Statistical mea- ningful differences have been found between subscales of job stress scale and gender, age, corporation, working years as a nurse, working years as a oncology nurse, desire to work in another clinic, working style, enough number of nurses in the clinic and existance of extra works that increase the nurses’ overload. Conclusion: Job stress levels of oncology nurses have been found at medium levels in all of subgroups that were affected by nurse’s demographic and working conditions.

Özet

Amaç: Bu çalışma, onkoloji hemşirelerinin iş stresi düzeyleri ile bunları etkileyen faktörlerin belirlenmesi amacıyla, tanımlayıcı araştırma tasarımında gerçekleştirildi. Yöntem: Çalışmanın örneklemini, İstanbul’da onkoloji birimi bulunan 4 Sağlık Bakanlığı hastanesi, 3 üniversite hastanesi ve 4 özel hastanede çalışan olasılıksız örnekleme yöntemi ile seçilen ve araştırmaya katılmaya gönüllü 189 onkolo- ji hemşiresi oluşturdu. Verilerin toplanmasında 20 soruluk anket formu ile birlikte İş Stresi Ölçeği (Job Stressors Scale) kullanılmıştır. Veriler; yüzdelik, Kruskal-Wallis ve Mann-Whitney U testleri kullanılarak değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Onkoloji hemşirelerinin iş stresi düzeyleri; ‘‘İş Rolü Belirsizliği’’ (`x=15.22±4.35), “İş Rolü Uyumsuzluğu’’ (`x=24.52±5.58) ve ‘‘İş Rolü Yükü’’ (`x=7.98±1.77) alt boyutlarında orta düzeyde olduğu bulundu. Cinsiyet, yaş, çalışılan kurum, meslekte çalışma yılı, onkoloji biriminde çalışma yılı, onkoloji birimi dışında başka bir birimde çalışma isteği, çalışma şekli, birimde yeterli sayıda onkoloji hemşiresinin var olup olmadığı ve hemşirelik dışındaki işlerin iş yükünü arttırıp arttırmadığı ile ‘‘İş Stresi Ölçeği’’ alt grup puan ortalamaları arasında istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı farkların bulunduğu (p≤0.05) belirlendi. Sonuç: Onkoloji hemşirelerinin iş stresi düzeyinin tüm alt boyutlarda orta düzeyde olduğu ve onkoloji hemşirelerinin sosyodemografik özellikleri ile çalışma koşullarından etkilendiği görüldü.
