Abstract
Sustainable development was mentioned in the United Nations Conference on Human Environment in 1972 held in Stockholm at first. After this conference in 1987, Our Common Future Report was published and the contemporarily definition of sustainable development was made which has been used today. Sustainable development which has economic, social and environmental dimensions, was defined as “the kind of development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs” Thus, the concept of corporate sustainability was equated as sustainable development and it is realized as sustainability on the company level. In todays business world the concept of corporate social responsibility, one of the important aspects of corporate sustainability, came up as a strategic approach which makes a difference in society and as well as an obligation. Sürdürülebilir kalkınma ilk defa 1972 yılında Stokholm'de gerçekleştirilen Birleşmiş Milletler İnsan Çevresi Konferansı'nda kendine yer bulmuş daha sonra 1987 yılında yayınlanan Ortak Geleceğimiz raporunda günümüzde kullanılan tanımı yapılmıştır. Ekonomik, sosyal ve çevresel boyutu olan sürdürülebilir kalkınma, “gelecek nesillerin kendi ihtiyaçlarını karşılayabilme yeteneğini ortadan kaldırmaksızın şimdiki neslin ihtiyaçlarının karşılanması” olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Buradan hareketle kurumsal sürdürülebilirlik kavramı sürdürülebilir kalkınma kavramı ile eşdeğer görülmüş ve sürdürülebilirliğin kurumlar seviyesinde gerçekleştirilmesi olarak ifade edilmiştir. Kurumsal sürdürülebilirliğin önemli unsurlarından biri olan kurumsal sosyal sorumluluk kavramı da günümüz iş dünyasında hem zorunluluk hem de toplum nezdinde farklılık yarata-cak stratejik bir yaklaşım olarak ele alınmaktadır. Bu çalışma, sürdürülebilir kalkınma, kurumsal sürdürülebilirlik ve kurumsal sosyal sorumluluk kavramlarının ilişkisini teorik bir çerçevede incelemeyi ve kavramlar üzerinden genel bir değerlendirme yapmayı amaçlamaktadır.
