Abstract

Nutrient removal from synthetic wastewater was carried out by using a lab-scale sequencing batch reactor (SBR). Three different operations consisting of different number of steps were tested and performances were compared. Those operations were An/Ax/Ox, An/Ox/Ax/Ox, and An/Ax/Ox/Ax/Ox. Effects of number of operating stages on COD, nitrogen (NH4-N, NO3-N) and phosphate (P04-P) removal from synthetic wastewater was investigated. Mixed microbial culture was used and synthetic wastewater was composed of glucose, Na.CH3COO.3H2O, NH4CI, KH2PO4, NaHCO3, MgSO4.7H20, NaCl, KC1, CaCI2.2H2O, FeCl3.6H20 resulting in a COD/N/P ratio of 100/6/1,5. Experiments were carried out with 10 days of constant sludge age and the highest nutrient removal was realized with five step operation .COD, NH4-N, NO3-N and PO4-P removal efficiencies obtained with the five step operation were 94% ,90%, 64% and 57%, respectively.Removal efficiencies of COD and NH4-N in three and four step operations were slightly higher than those of the five step operation however,NO3-N and PO4-P removal efficiencies obtained by the five step operation were significantly higher then the other operations.

Özet

Atıksulardan nutrient giderimi laboratuvar ölçekli ardışık zamanlı kesikli biyo-reaktör (AKR) kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Değişik basamaklardan oluşan üç farklı işletme test edilerek arıtma performansları karşılaştırılmıştır. Bu işletmeler An/Ax/Ox, An/Ox/Ax/Ox ve An/Ax/Ox/Ax/Ox basamaklarından oluşmaktadır.
