Abstract

Morphology of mohair from 20 Angora goats aged between 12 to 18 months was investigated by scanning electron microscopy in this study. The mohair samples were studied by the scanning electron microscope. The statistical results were evaluated by UNIVARIATE procedure of SAS programme. The cuticle surface was formed by irregular pentagon, hexagon, and trapezoid scales that lined up similar to fish scale. The mean diameter of fibers was 38.98+8.53 $mu$ m, mean number of scales was 4.6+0, 49 per 100 micron and mean height of scales was 18.72+0.76 $mu$ m. A small correlation between the height and number of scales was determined.
