Abstract

To report the therapy of benign eyelid tumors with argon laser, frequency doubled Nd:YAG laser and high-frequency (3.8 MHz) radio wave electrosurgery. 47 patients with benign tumors of the eyelid were included in this study. In 12 patients, the eyelid tumors were eliminated by argon laser. In 18 patients, the eyelid tumors were eliminated by frequency doubled (532 nm wavelength) Nd:YAG laser. In 17 patients, eyelid tumors were eliminated by high-frequency radio waves. The mean follow-up period was 4.9 months (range, 2 to 11 months). Postoperatively, histopathological confirmation was obtained in 28 cases. All patients were satisfied regarding the cosmetic results. No complication or infection of the wounds occurred; wounds were epithelialized after ten days. No relapses occurred during follow-up. Argon laser and frequency doubled Nd: YAG laser therapy of benign tumors of the eyelid results in very satisfactory wound healing without serious complications. High-frequency radio wave technique (radiosurgery) with minimal lateral heat spread and minimal coagulative effect can be used safely for management of benign tumors of the eyelid.

Eksizyon bölgesinde on günden sonra epitelizasyon tamamlanmıştır.
