Fitoöstrojenler östrojenik ve antiöstrojenik özellikler gösteren bitkisel bileşiklerdir. İnsan ve hayvanlarda yapılan çalışmaların sonucunda ,fitoöstrojenlerin menopozal semptomlar, kardiovasküler hastalıklar, osteoporoz ve çeşitli kanser tülerinde (meme, kolon veprostat kanserleri) faydaları saptanmıştır.
