Abstract

Duplication cysts originated from gastrointestinal tract are congenital rare disorders. They occurs due to abnormal canalisation of gastrointestinal tract. However duplication cysts may seen in any localisation of the tract but they locate mostly on right posterior mediastinum. Twenty-year old woman was directed to our clinic when an abnormality was detected on incidentally performed chest X-ray. A cystic lesion was resected which was located on extrapulmonary right paravertebral region and lied through azygoesophageal recess by thoracotomy. Histopathologic examination revealed esophageal duplication cyst. There was no co-existing disease. We aimed to make differential diagnosis of paravertebral cystic lesions and to review the duplication cyst in the light of literature data.
