Abstract

Gastrointestinal tumors (GIST) represent the largest category of nonepithelial neoplasms of the gastrointestinal tract.. GIST can occur in all segments of the intestine mostly occuring in the stomach and small intestine. They typically arise in the bowel wall, usually from the muscularis propria. Most of these tumors are found at surgery indicated for other diagnosis or intestinal obstruction. Here in, the clinical a case of a small intestinal stromal tumor, localised in the ileum and characterised by a clinical aspect, is presented and a review of the literature is made.
