Abstract

Labor force participation is important in terms of increasing economic activities and ensuring development. Because labor force participation rate between genders varies in Turkey, the study estimated the models for men and women separately. The aim of the study is to examine the effects of socio-economic and demographic variables besides obesity, health status, effects of alcohol and smoking, on the employment status of labor force participants with ‘’2016 Health Survey’’ data. It was analyzed by the multinominal logit regression method. According to model results, women are lower in employment status than men. As the level of education is important in employment. According to being out of employment for women, the risk of being out of work was high at high education level. It can also be said that there is a negative relationship between household income and the preferences of employment. Especially for women, the increase in household income and education level makes them be shyer about employment status.
