Abstract

Radiotherapy has similar survey rates with surgery in the management of the early glottic carcinomas. Radiot¬herapy is preferred when the patient refuses the surgical treatment and preservation of the voice quality is required. In this study, morphologic features and vibratory functions of the vocal folds were investigated by videolaryngostroboscopy in 24 patients with glottic carcinoma treated with radiotherapy. It is observed that, radioherapy causes hyperemia (62,5 %), fibro-sis (33,3 %) or edema (29,2%) of the vocal fold tissue which results in vibratory disfunction and disapperance or decrease of mucosal wave in 83% patients.
