In our study 20 school aged children with middle ear effusion and 17 normal ear were evaluated. ENT exami¬nation, audiological evaluation, cognitive and developmental performance tests (McCarthy Tarama Testi6 and Good Eno¬ugh Draw A Man5) were applied to both groups. No significant differences were found by the two groups cognitive and de¬velopmental performances. However the attention problems such as distractibility of the group who had middle ear effusion was higher than the normal group.

Çalışmamızda Efüzyonlu Otitis Media'nın (EOM) okulçağı çocuklarda genel gelişim alanlarına etkisi değerlendir¬mek amacıyla 20 OEM li, 17 normal kulak bulgusuna sahip çocuk değerlendirilmiştir. Her iki grupda yer alan 37 çocuğa otoskopik muayene ve odyolojik testlerden sonra genel gelişim alanlarını değerlendirmek amacıyla McCarthy Tarama Testi6 ve Good Enough Draw A Man5 testleri uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlar EOM'siz çocukların bulgularıyla karşı-laşhnlmıştır. Hem EOM'li hemde normal çocuklardan elde edilen bulgular istatistiki olarak değerlendirildiğin de zeka yaşı ve gelişimsel performans açısından farklılık gö'zlenmemekle beraber EOM'li çocukların dikkat sürelerinin diğer gruba göre daha kısa olduğu ve testleri daha uzun sürede tamamlayabildikleri görülmüştür.
