Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine the effects of learning styles of the secondary school students (6th.,7th and, 8th grades) taking physical education courses on their success and attitudes towards physical education courses. One thousand four hundred and ninety eight students (717 girls, 781 boys) with a total of 1498, from 12 secondary schools from Bolu in the 2005-2006 education- teaching year participated in this study. In the study, “Learning Styles Inventory” developed by Kolb in 1985 and “The Student Attitude Scale” developed by Demirhan ve Altay (2001) were applied to hte students to collect the data. Students learning styles prefence were analyzed through frequency (f) and percentages (%). Students taking physical education courses on their succes and attitudes were analyzed using One-way ANOVA. According to the findings gained from the study; İt was found that; 37,4% of the secondary school students attending to the study have diverger, 24% of them have assimilator, 19,8% converger and 18,8% accomodator learning styles. The attitudes of the students towards physical education courses changed considerably depending on their learning styles. (p<0,05). There was not a difference between student’ learning styles and their success except 8th grades (p<0,05)

Bu araştırma, beden eğitimi dersini alan İlköğretim II. kademe (6. 7. ve 8. sınıf) öğrencilerinin öğrenme sitillerinin okul başarılarına ve beden eğitimi dersine yönelik tutumlarına etkisini belirlemek için yapılmıştır. Araştırmaya 2005–2006 eğitim-öğretim yılında Bolu İli Merkez İlçede bulunan 12 ilköğretim okulunun II. kademesinde okuyan toplam 1498 (717 Bayan, 781 Erkek) öğrenci katılmıştır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak Kolb’un (1985) geliştirdiği “Öğrenme Stilleri Envanteri” ve öğrencilerin beden eğitimi dersine karşı tutumları belirlemek için ise Demirhan ve Altay’ın (2001) geliştirdiği “Beden Eğitimi Dersine Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Toplanan verilerin çözümlenmesinde, öğrenme stillerinin belirlenmesinde frekans (f) ve yüzde (%) dağılımları, öğrenme stilleri tercihleri ile beden eğitimi dersine yönelik tutumları ve okul başarıları ile ilgili verilerin çözümlenmesinde ise tek yönlü varyans analizi (ANOVA) kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada anlamlılık düzeyi 0,05 olarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda elde edilen bulgulara göre; araştırmaya katılan ilköğretim II. kademedeki öğrencilerin %37,4’ünün değiştiren, %24’ünün özümseyen, %19,8’inin ayrıştıran, %18,8’inin yerleştiren öğrenme stiline sahip olduğu belirlenmiştir. Öğrencinin beden eğitimi dersine karşı tutumlarının sahip oldukları öğrenme stiline göre manidar düzeyde farklı olduğu belirlenmiştir (p<0,05). Öğrencilerin öğrenme stilleri ile okul başarıları arasında 8. sınıf hariç manidar bir fark bulunmamıştır (p>0,05)
