Abstract

In this study, it was aimed to investigate the effect of physical appearance perfectionism and psychological well-being on self-confidence in women participating in sportive recreational activities. In the study; Physical Appearance Perfectionism Scale developed by Yang and Stoeber (2012) and adapted into Turkish by Kolsallayan (2017) to measure physical appearance perfectionism of participants, Psychological Well-Being Scale developed by Diener et al (2009) and adapted into Turkish by Telef (2013) to measure psychological well-being of participants and Self-Confidence Scale developed by Akın (2007) to measure participants' self-confidence levels have been used. For sample option, convenience sampling method and for data collection face-to-face survey method was used. Pearson Correlation and Regression Analysis was used by SPSS package program in the analysis of the data obtained. A total of 210 women who participated in sport recreation activities in Sakarya participated in the study voluntarily. When the findings of the study were examined, it was seen that sub-dimensions of physical appearance perfectionism and psychological well-being affected internal and external self-confidence considerably in terms of statistics. As a result, it has been found that self-confidence levels of women who feel well in physical and psychological terms increase.
