Abstract

It was declared that platelets had a role on the prevention of VEGF related neovascularization and thrombocytopenia had related with the increased risk of severe retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).1 Data from 4 eyes of 2 premature infants with Type 1 ROP were presented in this article. The platelet volume of the infants were found low in the preoperative examinations and spontaneous recovery of ROP was seen after the regulation of thrombocytopenia.

Özet

Trombositlerin, artmış vasküler endotelyal büyüme faktörüne (VEGF) bağlı neovaskülarizasyon gelişme riskini azaltmada rol oynadığı ve trombositopenisi olan prematüre bebeklerde tedavi gerektiren prematüre retinopatisi (PR) oluşma riskinin arttığı daha önce bildirilmiştir.1 Bu yazıda, PR takipleri esnasında Tip 1 PR tanısı ile laser fotokoagülasyon tedavisi kararı alınan ve preoperatif saptanan trombosit düşüklüğünün düzeltilmesi sonrası spontan iyileşme gösteren 2 prematüre bebeğin 4 gözüne ait veriler sunulmuştur.
