Abstract

Objective: To determine the association of monocyte count-to-high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol ratio (MHR), a recently emerged in- flammatory marker, with mitral annular calcification. Material and Method: A total of 1158 patients with mitral annular calcification and 540 patients without mitral annular calcification enrolled into the study. Monocyte count-to-high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol ratio and all data were compared between patients with and without mitral annular calcification. We also performed univariate and multivariate analysis to possible risk factors Results: Monocyte count-to-high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol ratio was significantly higher in patients with mitral annular calcifica- tion than control group (p <0.001). Monocyte count-to-high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol ratio (OR: 0.915, 95% CI: 0.310 - 1.520, p <0.001), mean platelet volume (OR: 0.614, 95% CI: 0.546 - 0.690, p<0.001), neutrophil to-lymphocyte ratio (OR: 0.474, 95% CI: 0.322 - 0.698, p=0.026) and monocyte (OR: 0.032, 95% CI: 0.002 - 0.124, p=0.023) levels were found to be significantly and independently as- sociated with the presence of mitral annular calcification. Conclusions: Higher monocyte count-to-high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol ratio which indicates an enhanced inflammation and ox- idative stress was significantly and independently associated with mitral annular calcification.

Monosit sayısı - yüksek yoğunluklu lipoprotein oranı (OR: 0,915, %95 CI: 0,310 - 1.520, p <0,001), ortalama trombosit hacmi (OR: 0,614, %95 CI: 0,546 - 0,690, p<0,001), nötrofil lenfosit oranı (OR: 0,474, %95 CI: 0,322 - 0,698, p=0,026) ve monosit sayısı (OR: 0,032, %95 CI: 0,002 - 0,124, p=0,023) düzeyleri mitral anulus kalsifikasyonun bulunması açısından ista- tiksel olarak anlamlı ve güçlü, bağımsız risk faktörleri olarak saptandı.
