Abstract

Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the differences betvveen nondiabetic hypertensive patients with typical effort angina and positive exercise test (group 1) and normotensive patients (group 2) in terms of having critical coronary lesions, the lesional morphology and diseased coronary artery. Material and Method: The data of 6335 patients who undervvent coronary angiography in our institute betvveen February 1994 and July 1999, were obtained retrospectively. Goup 1 consisted of 164 hypertensive non-diabetic patients (mean age 59±8) with complaints of typical AP and with positive exercise tests. Group 2 consisted of 119 normotensive non-diabetic patients having complaints of typical AP with positive effort tests (mean age 59$\pm$10). Result: Both groups patients angiographies were screened and the findings were compared. The incidence of LAD, CX, RCA lesion in group 1 and RCA+CX, LAD+CX, RCA+CX+LAD, LMCA lesion and single, double and triple-vessel disease in group 2 were greater but the differences were not statistically significant. Also there was no statistically difference in lesional morphology and total occlusion betvveen two groups. Conclusion: An important risk factor in CAD, HT does not effect the prevalence of CAD, diseased vessel, morphology of coronary lesions and the number of the diseased vessel.
