Abstract

Aim: The aim was to compare the clinical findings of epidemic keratoconjunctivitis be- tween patients with eyelid edema and without eyelid edema. Material and Method: Thirty-one patients (17 female and 14 male), who applied to the clinic during the epidemy in July and August 2011, were divided into two groups: patients with eyelid edema (n=15) and patients without eyelid edema (n=16). Results: The mean age was 26.6±16.6 years. The groups were similar in characteristics in- cluding age (p=0.30), presence of family member with same complaints (p=0.13), conjuncti- val hyperemia (p=0.70), chemosis (p=0.45), development of subepithelial infiltrates (p=0.65), presence of preauricular lymphadenopathy (p=0.22) and time of recovery (0.33). Conclusion: The epidemic keratoconjunctivitis patients with eyelid edema and those with- out edema have similar clinical findings and recovery characteristics.
