Abstract

Corneal dystrophies are a group of hereditary diseases in which corneal transparency progressively reduces as a result ofbilateral, symmetrical, central, non inflammatory accumulation of deposits in different layers of cornea. Advances in genetics, ocular imaging techniques, and new medical and surgical treatment innovations resulted in new classification of cornealdystrophies and new treatment options. This review includes current classification and treatment modalities of corneal dystrophies.
