Abstract

Aim: In this study, our aim is to investigate the safety of high dose intravenous enoxaparin in combination with fibrinolytic treatment on patients with acute ST segment elevation myocardial infarction. Material and Method: 33 patient who admitted to our hospital with the ST segment elevation myocardial infarction and undergone to fibrinolytic treatment were included in the study. All the patients were administered high dose intravenous enoxaparin as the intial antitrombotic dose. We evaluated the degree of ST segment resolution after the fibrinolytic treatment and determined the TIMI flow at the coronary angiography. The bleeding complications were also evaluated. Results: The ST segment resolution after the fibrinolytic treatment was 81.8%. At coronary angiography we detected TIMI 3 flow in 20 patients (60.6%), TIMI 2 flow in 9 patients (27.2%), TIMI 1 flow in 2 patients (6.1%) and TIMI 0 flow in 2 patients (6.1%). Web did not observe major hemorhage in any patients according to TIMI criteria but; minor hemorhage ratio was 12.1%. Conclusion: High dose intravenous enoxaparin in combination with fibrinolytic treatment on patients with acute ST segment elevation myocardial infarction as the initial antitrombotic dose was found to be safe.
