Abstract

The Copenhagen School of International Relations has initiated a content that fragmented security into segments and has also exposed the relation between the demand for social security and the demand for political security. In this way, the security issue is dealt with via social interpretation. The Copenhagen School, which gives great attention to the discourse dimension in shaping the behaviours of societies, clarified that a societal problem can be corralled into the field of security through the gauges of discourse and urgency. This process is explained by the theory of securitization. In this study, the developing regional alliance between Armenia and Iran will be evaluated through the foresights of the theory of securitization. Thus Armenia securitizes the genocide discourse with Turkey and securitizes the problem of Nagorno-Karabakh with Azerbaijan. Iran has also securitized Azerbaijan and Turkey within the scope of its own regional efficiency. The relationship developing between Armenia and Iran can be evaluated by the Copenhagen School’s society-oriented security approach. This evaluation will reveal the psychosocial aspect of the political tension.
