Pregnancy associated osteoporosis is a rare complication manifested with back, low back pain after gestation, or in lactation period. The entity has been first described by Nordin and Roper in 1955. The etiology and pathogenesis has not been thoroughly understood. Preexisting osteoporosis which grows harder in gestation, or genetic tendency and idiosyncrasy have been suggested as etiologic factors. Gebeliğe bağlı osteoporoz doğumdan sonra, laktasyon döneminde sırt, bel ağrısı ve vertebral fraktürlerle seyredebilen nadir bir durumdur. İlk kez Nordin ve Roper tarafından 1955'te tanımlanmıştır. Etyoloji ve patogenez tam olarak bilinmemektedir. Önceden varolan osteoporozun gebelikle şiddetlenebileceği, genetik yatkınlıktan kaynaklanabileceği, ya da rastlantısal olabileceği tartışılmaktadır.
