Abstract

Basal cell carcinoma is the most common malignancy among white populations. Over the past twenty years, significant increases in the incidence of basal cell carcinoma have been observed. The incidence of basal cell carcinoma rises with age, but the disease is becoming more common in younger adults. Risk factors include fair skin, prior skin cancers, immunosuppression and a history of sunburn in childhood and adolescence. Research in free radical-mediated cellular injury and innate defense mechanisms and ultraviolet radiation-induced genetic mutations have improved our understanding of the development of this disorder.

Özet

Bazal hücreli kanser beyaz toplumda en sık görülen habis tümördür. Son yirmi yıllık dönemde insidansında belirgin bir artış gözlenmektedir. İnsidansı yaşla artmakla birlikte genç erişkinlerde giderek daha yaygınlaşmaktadır. Risk faktörleri açık tenlilik, geçirilmiş deri kanseri, immünsüpresyon ve çocukluk ile adolesan dönemde güneş yanıkları öyküsünü içerir. Serbest radikal ilişkili hücresel hasar, doğal savunma mekanizmaları ve ultraviyolenin neden olduğu genetik mutasyonlarla ilgili araştırmalar bazal hücreli kanserle ilgili bildiklerimizi ilerletmiştir.
