Abstract

In current study investigation of predictive role of emotional self-efficacy and forgiveness on perceived stress level of college students was aimed. The sample of study was consisted of 345 college students. Perceived Stress Scale, Emotional Self-Efficacy Scale, Heartland Forgiveness Scale and personnel information form were used. In analysis; mean, pearson correlation and multiple regression techniques were applied. According to results, perceived stress level was statistically significant and negative correlated with emotional self-efficacy and forgiveness. The subscales of emotional self-efficacy (regulating emotions, using emotions to assist thought, perceiving emotions, understanding emotions) accounted for 14.4% of changing in perceived stress level; however only using emotions to assist thought had a significant impact on model. The subscale of forgiveness scale (forgiveness of self, others, situation) accounted for 28.1% of changing in perceived stress level. While forgiveness of self and situation made a significant contribution to the model, there wasn’t significant contribution of forgiveness of others.
