Abstract

Aim: To determine the frequency of thyroid ca rcinomas in patients who underwent thyr oidectomy with preoperative diagno- sis of nodular - multinodular - diffuse goitre and thyroid cancer. Material and Method: 918 patients who were operated for nodular, multi nodular and diffuse goitre and thyroid cancer in Tepecik Teaching Hospital’s 3rd General Surgery Clinic between January 1998 and December 2008 included into the study. 748 (81.5%) were female and 170 (18.5%) were male. They were analyzed in terms of age, type of surgery, preoperative diagnosis, pathology results, wall-capsule invasion, presence of metastasis and survival retros pectively. Findings: The majority of patients with thyroid cancer were women. The risk of the thyroid cancer was approximately 4.5 -fold lower in men than in women. Although men revealed higher frequency of meta stasis compared to women, women con

Özet

Amaç: Çoğu benin özellik göstermesine rağmen, endokrin sistem maliniteleri içerisinde en yaygın olarak görülen tiroid kanserlerinin, tiroidektomi ameliyatı uygulanan hasta grubundaki sıklığını saptamak. Gereç ve Yöntem: Ocak 1998-Aralık 2008 tarihleri arasında Tepecik Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi 3. Genel Cerrahi Kliniğinde ameliyat edilen 918 hasta çalışmaya alındı. 748’i (%81.5) kadın, 170’i (%18.5) erkek hastanın dosyası; yaş, ameliyat şekli, ameliyat öncesi tanı, ameliyat sonrası patoloji sonuçları, duvar-kapsül invazyonu, metastaz olup olmaması ve sağkalım açısından geriye dönük incelendi.
