Abstract
Madrasahs appear as an important educational institution in the history and civilization of Islam. Due to the importance of education, Madrasahs were built in various parts of Anatolia. There are many madrasas in Şanlıurfa, which has a rich historical heritage. The work titled "Şanlıurfa Madrasas with Its History and Architectural Features" was published by Turkish Historical Society Publications (Türk Tarih Kurumu Yayınları) in 2019, written by Mehmet Memiş. The mentioned work includes the buildings in the city center of Şanlıurfa. The buildings in the work are classified into two main groups as madrasas that are partially or fully standing and mentioned in written sources. These madrasahs, which were discussed in depth by the author, were examined in the light of inscriptions, endowments (deed of trust of a pious foundation), and archive records by going down to the main sources and supported with visual materials. Özet
Medreseler İslam tarih ve medeniyetinde önemli bir eğitim müessesesi olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Eğitimin önemine binaen Anadolu’nun çeşitli yerlerinde medreseler kurulmuştur. Zengin bir tarihi mirasa sahip olan Şanlıurfa’da da birçok medrese bulunmaktadır. Mehmet Memiş tarafından kaleme alınan “Tarihçe ve Mimari Özellikleriyle Şanlıurfa Medreseleri” isimli eser 2019 yılında Türk Tarih Kurumu Yayınları tarafından basılmıştır. Eser Şanlıurfa il merkezinde bulunan yapıları kapsamaktadır. Yazar tarafından derinlemesine ele alınan medreseler asıl kaynaklara inilerek kitabeler, vakfiyeler ve arşiv kayıtları ışığında incelenmiştir.
