Abstract

Leadership is a phenomenon more issued everyday in the field of management with the increase of technological, political, social and political advances. Many studies have been carried out to comprehend the practicability of the theoretical advances in leadership. This study aims to form Turkish version of “Managerial Practices Survey” prepared by Yukl, Gordon and Taber (2002). Scale adaptation steps suggested by Hambleton and Patsula (1999) and Deniz (2007) are implemented in the study. 208 teachers working in 22 different schools 12 of which are at primary and the rest 10 are at secondary school in the central district of Edirne and Giresun formed the workgroup. In the scope of adaptation to Turkish, Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) technique is used to control the convenience of the data gathered from Turkish teachers to the approach used while the original scale was being developed. Model convenience indexes are used to evaluate the CFA results. The result that three factor structure in the original form of the model adjusted to Turkish form as well since the as result of DFA results, all indexes are acceptable and matches perfectly except one of them has been concluded. The result of the adaptation studies of Managerial Practices Survey into Turkish form has indicated that it can be used to determine the effective leadership behaviours of school principals.
