Abstract

Pediatric cataracts emerge as an important issue in pediatric ophthalmology practice since they are the most frequent cause of preventable childhood blindness. Pediatric cataracts offer many difficulties from diagnosis till treatment and the physician must be vigilant and systematic. In our review, we tried to present an approach for the diagnosis, surgery and postoperative rehabilitation of this controversial issue.

Özet

Pediatrik kataraktlar çocukluk döneminde önlenebilir körlüklerin en sık sebebini oluşturması nedeniyle pediatrik oftalmoloji pratiğinde önemli bir yere sahiptir. Tanısından tedavisine kendine özgü zorluklar barındırır ve hekim her aşamada dikkatli ve sistematik olmalıdır. Derlememizde pediatrik oftalmolojinin tartışmalı konularından biri olan pediatrik kataraktlarda tanının konmasından ameliyata ve ameliyat sonrası optik rehabilitasyona yönelik bir yaklaşım sunmaya çalıştık.
