Abstract

The aim of this study is to assess 24 patients who have diagnosed vulvar carcinom and performed radical vulvectomy in our clinic. Cases whom medical records reviewed retrospectively were selected in the 5 years period from 1997 through 2001. Patients were assessed especially for age, admission complaint, localization of the tumor, histopathologic type, the operation performed, complications after the operation, lymph node status and regions. The most common complaint of the patients in the admission was pruritus. Labium majus was the most common localization which was attacked. The size of the tumors varied between 0.5-5 cm. (mean:2.7). The only histopathologic type seen was squamoz cancer. Radical vulvectomy was performed to all patients. There was only one patient who died because of pulmonary embolus after 8 hours after the operation. The most common complications after the operation were wound dehissence and urinary tract infection. Most of the patients were in stage 1B. Pelvic lymph node was (+) only in one patient. One patient has been died because of the recurrence of the tumor.
