Abstract

It is reported that there is a considerable overlap between cognitive and behavioral fenotypes of Asperger disorder (AD) and nonverbal learning disabilities (NLD). The aim of this article is to present two cases of AD and discuss these cases in the perspective of NLD profile. The related articles were obtained from medline. The cases who were diagnosed with DSM-IV are going to be discussed in the context of the recent literature. The cases had problems not only in their social interactions and nonverbal communication skills, but also in their intuitive, integrative, visual perceptual and visual motor skills. Although these findings of the two cases of AD are similar with several aspects of NLD. examination of suggested models for AD and exploring of its neurocognitive profile with neuropsychological batteries in larger samples are needed.
