Abstract

Ascending aortic origin of a branch of pulmonary artery is also named as hemitruncus arteriosus (HA). It is a very rare congenital heart defect. We report a case with HA whose right pulmonary artery was arising from the ascending aorta. The diagnosis was made by echocardiography at the age of one month. In addition the patient had patent ductus arteriosus, patent foramen ovale and right aortic arcus. The diagnosis of HA was confirmed by cardiac catheterization. Early diagnosis surgical correction of this rare congenital heart defect is mandatory.
