Abstract

All cancers and treatment methods, especially breast and gynecological cancers, affect sexual functions, and sexual problems continue during postdisease period. Maintenance of sexual function is important in healthy people, and cancer patients as well. A healthcare team is obliged to counsel and support the patient in preventing and resolving sexual problems during the cancer. Adopting a bio-psychosocial approach during evaluation of sexuality so as to provide solutions to sexual problems provides a holistic perspective. Although breast and gynecological cancers are major health issues that cause sexual problems in women, colorectal cancers, head and neck cancers, and treatment modalities applied during the cancer process also predispose to sexual problems in women. This study provides information on cancer types and treatment methods that cause sexual problems in women and the frequency and causes of sexual problems in women with cancer.
