Abstract

The number of academic research about the vote behavior of the young people, who have important effect on the result of the future elections is quite poor. In literature, variety of reasons that effect voter’s behavior are observed. The aim of this study is to analyze the reasons that effect the political behavior of Bülent Ecevit University BEU students in local elections. According to results obtained in this study, for the students of Bülent Ecevit University in local elections, while the reasons of “ethnic origin”, “being native” and “being member of the current ruling party” for candidate are not seem to be effective, it is also observed that voters’ behavior have been overwhelmingly effected by reasons of “service experience”, “projects”, “feasibility of promises” and “educational level” of candidate

Özet

Türkiye’de, gelecekteki seçimlerin sonuçlarında önemli etkiye sahip gençlerin, oy davranışına ilişkin bilimsel araştırmaların sayısı oldukça azdır. Literatürde, seçmen davranışını etkileyen birçok neden gözlenmektedir. Çalışmamızın amacı, Bülent Ecevit Üniversitesi BEÜ öğrencilerinin yerel seçimlerde siyasal davranışına etki eden nedenleri analiz etmektir. Araştırmada elde edilen sonuçlara göre, yerel seçimlerde BEÜ öğrencilerinde özellikle “adayın etnik kökeni”, “adayın o ilden olması” ve “iktidar partisinden olması” gibi aday orijinine ait nedenler etkili görülmezken seçmen davranışına ilişkin “Adayın hizmet tecrübesi”, “Adayın projeleri”, “Aday vaatlerinin yapılabilirliği” ve “Adayın eğitim düzeyi” gibi nedenler oldukça büyük etkiye sahip olduğu gözlenmiştir.
