Abstract

This article discusses the professional competencies Human Resources (HR) professionals need to have to increase the value they create for their organizations. In this context, it is aimed to compile researches up to date in a comprehensible manner by practitioners and to create an easy-to-use model. In the paper, first of all, the ten most important HR competency models were presented in chronological order. Then, a practical model that integrates these models was proposed. The competencies of HR professionals in the proposed practical model are: Personal Credibility, HR Expertise, Knowledge Management, Change Management and Strategic Management. The proposed model was detailed with potential behavioral indicators for better understanding. Thus, a basis was created both for the use of HR competency models by practitioners and for the advanced studies of academicians on the subject.
