Abstract

This study was conducted to examine the relationship between attitudes toward gender roles and happiness levels among women working in public institutions and to determine the extent to which these attitudes predict happiness levels. Designed as a descriptive and correlational research, the study was conducted online across Türkiye between July and September 2025 and comprised 390 female public sector employees reached through snowball sampling. Data were collected online via Google Forms using the “Gender Roles Attitude Scale” and the “Oxford Happiness Questionnaire–Short Form.” The findings revealed a statistically significant positive relationship between attitudes toward gender roles and happiness levels among public sector female employees. Regression analysis showed that attitudes toward gender roles explained 38% of the variance in happiness levels. It was determined that holding more egalitarian attitudes toward gender roles is a significant variable in enhancing women’s happiness levels. Consequently, fostering work environments that actively support gender equality in public institutions may significantly contribute to the happiness levels of female employees.
