Abstract

Vocational Schools are one of the bodies of tertiary education providing vocational education. There is a wide range of vocational programs within vocational schools. The evaluation of these programs is fundamental in that it will provide a general picture of the current status. This study aims to determine the perceptions of the faculty, students, alumni and employers towards the Control and Automation Technology Program. The method entails qualitative techniques. Data collection procedures have two stages. The first stage involved interviews with the participants using semi-structured interview forms. The participants were classified into groups such as the faculty, students, graduates, and firm representatives. The second stage involved interviews with the firm representative where the students enrolled in the program were interns, and the interviews focused on the employability status of the students as interns. Thematic analysis was used in the data analysis procedures. The results showed that the graduates were eligible to work in the firms in terms of their professional skills. It was found out that the graduates’ professional interests were sufficient. It was also found out that the majority of the students who are interns at the firms wanted to be employed in the same firms. It was concluded that the collaborations between the management of the program and the firms must be boosted, and the collaborations were especially beneficial, in many different ways, to the faculty, students, graduates, and firms. Notwithstanding, some problems were having a negative impact on vocational education and it was noted that these problems should be provided with solutions soon.
