Abstract

This study aimed to develop a creative drama–based social skills guide and examine its implementation with primary school students who had transferred from earthquake-affected regions. A mixed-methods approach was adopted within a design-based research framework. The guide was refined through classroom feedback and implemented in six sessions within the third-grade Life Science course. Participants were 12 students aged 8–9 and their classroom teacher. The quantitative component employed a single-group pre-test–post-test pre-experimental design using teacher ratings on the Social Skills Assessment Scale for children aged 7–12. The qualitative component used a case study approach based on student and teacher interviews and researcher observations. Findings were integrated during interpretation. Mean social skills scores increased from 188.50 to 227.75. Qualitative findings indicated increased social interaction and group participation, greater willingness to communicate and express oneself, and positive responses to drama-based learning. The findings suggest that the guide offers a promising classroom resource for providing opportunities to practise social skills. The small sample, absence of a control group, and lack of follow-up measurements limit causal interpretation and conclusions about the persistence of the observed changes.

Özet

Bu araştırmanın amacı, depremden etkilenen bölgelerden nakil yoluyla gelen ilkokul öğrencilerine yönelik yaratıcı drama temelli bir sosyal beceri kılavuzu geliştirmek ve sınıf içi uygulamasını incelemektir. Araştırmada tasarım temelli araştırma çerçevesinde karma yöntem yaklaşımı benimsenmiştir. Kılavuz, sınıf içi uygulamalardan elde edilen geri bildirimlerle iyileştirilmiş ve üçüncü sınıf Hayat Bilgisi dersinde altı oturumda uygulanmıştır. Katılımcılar, 8–9 yaşlarındaki 12 öğrenci ve sınıf öğretmenlerinden oluşmaktadır. Nicel bileşende tek grup ön test–son test zayıf deneysel desen kullanılmış; veriler öğretmen değerlendirmelerine dayalı 7–12 Yaş Sosyal Becerileri Değerlendirme Ölçeği ile toplanmıştır. Nitel bileşende durum çalışması yaklaşımı benimsenerek öğrenci ve öğretmen görüşmeleri ile araştırmacı gözlemlerinden yararlanılmıştır. Bulgular yorumlama aşamasında bütünleştirilmiştir. Sosyal beceri puan ortalaması 188,50’den 227,75’e yükselmiştir. Nitel bulgular; sosyal etkileşim ve grup etkinliklerine katılımda artışa, iletişim kurma ve kendini ifade etme isteğinde gelişmeye ve drama temelli öğrenmeye yönelik olumlu tepkilere işaret etmiştir. Bulgular, kılavuzun sosyal becerilerin uygulanmasına fırsat sunan, geliştirilmeye açık bir sınıf içi eğitim materyali olduğunu düşündürmektedir. Küçük örneklem, kontrol grubunun bulunmaması ve izleme ölçümlerinin yapılmaması, nedensel yorumları ve gözlenen değişimlerin kalıcılığına ilişkin çıkarımları sınırlandırmaktadır.
