Modern iktisat literatürü farklı düşünürlerin kuramsal katkıları neticesinde bugünkü ileri düzeyine ulatmıştır. Bu literatürünün oluşumuna katkı yapanlardan birisi de Nüfus İlkesi Üzerine Bir Deneme adlı eseriyle Thomas Robert Malthus’dur. Bu yazı, Malthus’un bu kült eserinin Türkçeye kazandırılması vesilesiyle kaleme alınmış kapsamlı bir değerlendirmeyi konu edinmektedir.
