Bu çalışmada, “Bilgi ve Belge Yönetimi Uzmanlığının Yetkinlikler Açısından Tanımlanması” başlıklı kitabın tanıtımı amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada Bilgi ve Belge Yönetimi (BBY) alanında görev yapan profesyonellerin kütüphane, arşiv ve müze gibi bilgi merkezlerinde etkili hizmet sunabilmeleri için gerekli olan mesleki yetkinliklerinin belirlenmesine odaklanılmaktadır. Kitap, hem teorik hem de saha araştırmasına dayalı içeriklerle zenginleştirilmiş olup, altı temel yetkinlik alanı (koleksiyon yönetimi, bilgi hizmetleri, teknoloji kullanımı, organizasyon yönetimi, mevzuat bilgisi ve etik tutumlar) etrafında yapılandırılmıştır. Delphi yöntemiyle yürütülen çalışmada, uzman görüşlerinden elde edilen veriler doğrultusunda birincil ve ikincil düzeyde yetkinlikler tanımlanmış; özellikle dijitalleşme, kullanıcı odaklılık ve disiplinler arası iş birliği gibi konular öne çıkarılmıştır.
