Abstract

Aims: This study aimed to evaluate changes in patient preference for nonsurgical retreatment before and after undergoing the procedure and to determine whether baseline retreatment selection was associated with demographic variables. Methods: A total of 200 patients indicated for nonsurgical endodontic retreatment completed a structured questionnaire before treatment (after standardized clinical information) and immediately after the procedure. Retreatment selection was operationalized as a binary variable for paired comparison. Changes in preference were analyzed using the McNemar test, and associations between baseline retreatment selection and demographic variables were evaluated using the Pearson Chi-square test. Results: Retreatment selection increased significantly following the clinical procedure (p .05). Conclusion: Direct clinical experience with nonsurgical retreatment was associated with a significant increase in patient preference for tooth preservation. Demographic variables were not independently associated with baseline retreatment selection.
