Abstract

The blue economy approach is defined as the sustainable use of marine and ocean resources for economic development and job creation as a reflection of the sustainable development approach based on meeting today's needs while protecting the resources of future generations. In this study, the green transformation emerging in the maritime transportation and shipbuilding sectors within the blue economy is discussed through a literature review. In the interpretation made within the framework of the findings obtained from secondary sources, it was concluded that approximately 60% of the ships built in Turkey have green status, the number of green ports is increasing, the sector is supported by legal regulations and Turkey has adopted sustainable policies in the shipbuilding sector. This research is considered to contribute to the literature as one of the limited studies focusing on the stage of Turkey's shipbuilding sector within the framework of green transformation practices.

Özet

Mavi ekonomi yaklaşımı; gelecek nesillerin kaynaklarını korurken bugünün ihtiyaçlarını karşılamaya dayalı sürdürülebilir kalkınma anlayışının bir yansıması olarak, denizler ve okyanus kaynaklarının ekonomik gelişim ve iş sahası yaratılması amacıyla sürdürülebilir kullanımı şeklinde tanımlanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, literatür taraması yöntemi ile mavi ekonomi bünyesindeki deniz taşımacılığı ve gemi inşa sektörlerinde ortaya çıkan yeşil dönüşüm ele alınmıştır. Çalışmada, ikincil kaynaklardan elde edilen bulgular çerçevesinde yapılan yorumlamada, Türkiye’de inşa edilen gemilerin yaklaşık %60’ının yeşil statüde olduğu, yeşil limanların sayısının arttığı, yasal düzenlemeler ile sektörün desteklendiği ve Türkiye’nin gemi inşa sektöründe sürdürülebilir politikaları benimsediği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bu araştırmanın, Türkiye’nin yeşil dönüşüm uygulamaları çerçevesinde gemi inşa sektörünün hangi aşamada olduğuna odaklanan sınırlı araştırmalardan biri olarak literatüre katkı sağladığı değerlendirilmektedir.
