Abstract

The study examined the development of self-confidence in female volleyball players, focusing on factors such as age, education level, training frequency, years of playing experience, and family participation in sports. The sample population consisted of 150 female volleyball athletes, aged 14 to 25 years, all of whom hold official volleyball licenses. To assess the participants' growth in self-confidence, the researchers utilised the Self-Confidence Scale developed by Akın (2007), in line with Bandura's (1997) concept of self-efficacy. The data collected were analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22.0. The Independent Samples T-Test was used to compare two groups, while the One-Way ANOVA test was employed to compare three or more groups. A significance threshold of p<0.05 was established. The results showed that self-confidence levels did not differ significantly by age, educational attainment, or family involvement in sports. Research indicates that participants with at least 5 years of volleyball experience, coupled with a training frequency of 4 or more sessions per week, exhibit significantly higher levels of both internal and external self-confidence.

Özet

Araştırma, kadın voleybolcuların özgüven gelişimlerinin farklı değişkenler açısından (yaş, eğitim durumu, antrenman sıklığı, voleybol oynama süresi, ailede spor yapma durumu) incelenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu; Gaziantep ilinde lisanslı voleybol oynayan 14-25 yaş arasında 150 kadın voleybolcu oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmaya katılan voleybolcuların özgüven gelişimlerini incelemek için Bandura (1997)’nın özyeterlik kavramı dikkate alınarak Akın (2007) tarafından geliştirilmiş Özgüven ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin analizi için Statistical Packadge for Social Sciences (SPSS) 22.0 paket programı kullanılmıştır İkili gruplarda Independent Samples T Testi, üç ve üstü gruplarda One Way ANOVA testlerinden faydalanılmıştır.
