Abstract
The Russian Tsardom, which wanted to get the share it wanted from world trade, tried to have access to the open seas. The fact that the Baltic Sea did not allow trade in all seasons led the Russians to the south and east. The Ottoman Empire began to lose power from the beginning of the 18th century, and the Russians saw the southern exit route as an easily accessible route. The Russians saw the Orthodox under Ottoman rule as a stepping stone to reach the south and the warm seas. Accordingly, the Russians, claiming to be the leader of world Orthodoxy, sought ways to interfere in internal affairs at every opportunity under the pretext of defending the rights of Orthodox Ottoman citizens. Orthodoxy and Panslavist movements have always been supported by military force. The increasing Russian interest in the Balkans brought Russia and the Ottoman Empire into confrontation. The study aims to analyze the Russian Tsardom expansion strategies in the Balkans and the stages of ideological, military and economic support of the Mora revolt. By evaluating the sources on the subject, it was analyzed whether the Russians could achieve the financial gain they expected from the activities they organized in the Balkans.
