Abstract

The integration of intelligent transportation systems into the maritime sector, a key player in global freight transport, is crucial for ensuring the sustainability of its operations. Consequently, interest in autonomous ships, an essential component of maritime intelligent transportation systems, has increased significantly alongside recent technological advancements. This study aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis of scientific publications on autonomous ships within the national literature. Research data were collected from academic databases including the National Thesis Center, Ulakbim TR Index, Google Scholar, and ASOS Index. A search in the National Thesis Center using the keyword “autonomous ship” yielded eight master’s theses. Additionally, 15 open-access articles were retrieved from Ulakbim TR Index, Google Scholar, and ASOS Index using the keywords “autonomous ship” and “autonomous ships.” Examination of the publications indicates that the first scientific study on autonomous ships appeared in 2018. With recent technological progress, interest in autonomous ships has grown steadily, and the literature addresses them from various perspectives.
