Discussions about whether social work is global or local-regional come to the fore from time to time. It would not be wrong to say that there is a perspective based on international social work practices, professional ethical principles and responsibilities, human rights and social justice in the global context of social work. In other words, while the main principles of the profession reveal the global context of social work, it is a basic goal to develop a professional perspective that supports social inclusion with an attitude against discrimination and oppression. In addition, the necessity of taking cultural sensitivity and differences as a basis and evaluating the client's or situations in their environment are also included in local-regional social work practices. This study focuses on how glocal social work should be put forward by evaluating the global and local context of social work together.

Sosyal hizmet global mi, yoksa yerel-bölgesel mi tartışmaları zaman zaman gündeme gelmektedir. Sosyal hizmetin küresel bağlamında uluslararası sosyal hizmet uygulamaları, meslek etik ilke ve sorumlulukları, insan hakları ve sosyal adaleti temele alan bir bakış açısının olduğunu söylemek yanlış olmayacaktır. Yani mesleğin ana ilkeleri sosyal hizmetin küresel bağlamını ortaya koyarken; ayrımcılık ve baskı karşıtı bir tutumla sosyal içermeyi destekleyen mesleki bakış açısını geliştirmek temel bir hedeftir. Bununla birlikte kültürel duyarlılığın ve farklılıkların temel alınması, müracaatçının ya da durumların çevresi içinde değerlendirilmesi gerekliliği de yerel-bölgesel sosyal hizmet uygulamalarının içindedir. Bu çalışmada sosyal hizmetin küresel ve yerel bağlamının bir arada değerlendirilerek küyerel (glokal) sosyal hizmetin nasıl ortaya konulması gerektiği üzerinde durulmaktadır.
