Abstract: Trend data is generated as a result of searches made on Google, and these data can be analyzed with the Google Trends application. This study was conducted to evaluate the trends of searches about schizophrenia online. This infodemiological study was conducted on the Google Trends platform. Data obtained from national (Turkey) searches using the term schizophrenia between 2004 and October 2023 were analyzed. Data is classified by time, location, related topics, and related queries. In this study, the term "schizophrenia" was most searched between 2004-2005. Although the search rates of the provinces are very close to each other, it has been observed that the most popular province is Kırşehir. Those who searched for the term schizophrenia mostly questioned what schizophrenia and its symptoms were. Users also searched for some symptoms of schizophrenia, its subtypes, other mental illnesses, some drugs used in treatment, etiology of schizophrenia, and diagnosis. However, the search rates on these topics were close to each other and low. This study reveals the society's tendency to seek information related to schizophrenia. Google users tend to search for information on the process from the definition of schizophrenia to its treatment. However, search rates are low. At this point, it is recommended for participants who prefer online sources to access information to evaluate the scope, reliability, and quality of the information in this environment, to identify other preferred sources and to evaluate their suitability.

Öz: Google üzerinden yapılan aramalar sonucu trend veriler oluşmaktadır ve bu veriler Google Trend uygulaması ile analiz edilebilmektedir. Bu çalışma çevrimiçi ortamda şizofreni hakkında yapılan aramaların eğilimlerini değerlendirme amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bu infodemiyolojik çalışma Google Trend platformu üzerinden yapılmıştır. Çalışmada 2004-Ekim 2023 tarihleri arasında “şizofreni” terimi kullanılarak oluşturulan ulusal (Türkiye) aramalardan elde edilen verilerin analizi yapılmıştır. Veriler zamana, konuma, ilgili konulara ve ilgili sorgulamalara göre sınıflandırılmıştır. Bu çalışmada “şizofreni” terimi en çok 2004-2005 yılları arasında aranmıştır. İllerin arama oranları birbirine çok yakın olmakla birlikte en popüler ilin Kırşehir olduğu görülmüştür. Şizofreni terimini arayanlar en çok şizofreni ve belirtilerinin ne olduğunu sorgulamışlardır. Kullanıcılar aynı zamanda şizofreninin bazı belirtileri, alt tipleri, diğer ruhsal hastalıklar, tedavide kullanılan bazı ilaçlar, şizofreninin etiyolojisi ve tanılama konularını da aramışlardır. Ancak bu konulardaki arama oranları birbirine yakın ve düşük çıkmıştır. Bu çalışma ile topumun şizofreni ile ilişkili bilgi arama eğilimi ortaya konulmuştur. Google kullanıcıları şizofreninin tanımından tedavisine kadar olan süreçte bilgi arama eğilimi içindedirler. Bununla birlikte arama oranları düşüktür. Bu noktada bilgiye erişimde çevrim içi kaynakları tercih eden katılımcılar için bu ortamdaki bilginin kapsamının, güvenirliğinin ve kalitesinin değerlendirilmesi, tercih edilen diğer kaynakların belirlenmesi ve uygunluğunun değerlendirmesi önerilmektedir.
