Abstract

This study, based on the approach that macroeconomic stability should be assessed not only through economic indicators but also in conjunction with global peace indicators, conducts a comparative analysis of Turkey’s economic performance and global peace performance for the period 2008–2024. In this context, an integrated MCDM (Multi-Criteria Decision Making) model incorporating the Entropy, MAXC and ALPAS methods is proposed. Within the model, criterion weights were determined using the Entropy and MAXC (MAXimum of Criterion) methods and combined using a linear common weighting approach. The final performance rankings were obtained using the ALPAS (ALternative Prioritization and Assessment System) method. The findings indicate that, in terms of economic performance, exchange rate, inflation and unemployment rate are the criteria with the highest weights, whilst in terms of global peace performance, the external and internal conflicts entered into the model are shown to have the highest level of importance. According to the analysis results, Turkey’s economic performance peaked in 2014, whilst the lowest performance was observed in 2015. In terms of global peace performance, 2008 was identified as the best year and 2022 as the weakest. It was noted that both performance indicators declined, particularly in the period following 2020. The findings reveal that deteriorations in global peace levels have increased economic fragility. In this context, it is recommended that price stability be ensured and strategies that mitigate risks in foreign policy be adopted to achieve sustainable growth.

Nihai performans sıralamaları ise ALPAS (ALternative Prioritization and Assessment System) yöntemi aracılığıyla elde edilmiştir.
