Abstract

This descriptive study aimed to examine healthy lifestyle behaviors and the factors influencing them among female academic staff at Mersin University. The study included 203 female faculty members. Data were collected using a Descriptive Questionnaire and the Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile Scale. The findings showed that participants demonstrated above-moderate levels of health-promoting lifestyle behaviors, with a mean total score of 131.81 ± 17.53. Among the subscales, the lowest mean score was observed for exercise (1.96 ± 0.83), whereas the highest mean score was found for interpersonal support (2.95 ± 0.74). No significant differences were found between age, marital status, and scale scores (p > 0.05). However, significant differences were identified according to body mass index, family type, academic title, presence of chronic disease, and perceived health status (p < 0.05). Overall, healthy lifestyle behaviors were above average, whereas exercise behaviors remained inadequate and varied according to several individual characteristics.
