Abstract

Delirium, which is frequently encountered in intensive care patients, is a preventable and reversible condition. While it is estimated that 10-30% of patients admitted to the hospital develop delirium, this rate increases up to 80% in intensive care patients (1, 2, 3). However, hypoactive Although the rate of delirium (56%-68%) is more common than hyperactive (1%-10%) and mixed delirium (21%-31%), the diagnosis of hypoactive delirium is often difficult because its symptoms are not noticed or confused with conditions such as dementia and depression. It can be overlooked in care units (2).

Özet

Yoğun bakım hastalarında sık karşılaşılan deliryum, önlenebilen ve geri döndürülebilen bir durum olmasıyla birlikte hastaneye başvuran hastaların %10-30’unda deliryum geliştiği tahmin edilirken, bu oran yoğun bakım hastalarında %80’e kadar çıkmaktadır (1, 2, 3).Ancak hipoaktif deliryum oranının (%56-%68), hiperaktif (%1-%10) ve karma deliryumdan (%21-%31) daha yaygın görülmesine rağmen hipoaktif deliryum tanısının konulması belirtilerinin fark edilmemesi veya demans ve depresyon gibi durumlarla karıştırılması nedeniyle çoğu zaman yoğun bakım ünitelerinde gözden kaçabilmektedir(2).
