Abstract
This research aims to examine the perception of women among students studying at the faculty of health sciences of a university. The research was conducted using a cross-sectional design. Data were collected face-to-face between October 2024 and January 2025. The study was conducted with 447 students selected using convenience sampling, a type of purposive sampling method at a university in in Kütahya, a city located in Turkey's Aegean Region. Data were collected using a "Personal Information Form" and the "Perception of Women among University Students Scale," both developed by the researchers after a literature review. The mean age of the students was 20.62 ± 3.43, 87.2% were female, 39.8% were midwifery students, and 29.7% were nursing students. The students' total mean score on the Perception of Women among University Students Scale was 102.78 ± 6.41. It was determined that students' perceptions of women were influenced by factors such as gender, marital status, the place where they spent most of their lives, the person they lived with, their parental status, scholarship or loan status, and exposure to violence. Similar to our research findings, perceptions of women are influenced by individual characteristics such as age and gender, as well as social, cultural, and economic factors. The results of this study are limited to the students who participated in the study. Bu araştırmada bir üniversitenin sağlık bilimleri fakültesinde öğrenim gören öğrencilerde kadın algısının incelenmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Araştırma kesitsel tasarımda yürütülmüştür. Araştırmanın verileri Ekim 2024 - Ocak 2025 tarihleri arasında yüz yüze toplanmıştır. Araştırma Türkiye’nin Ege Bölgesi’nde yer alan Kütahya ilinde bir üniversitede amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden kolayda örnekleme ile belirlenen 447 öğrenci ile yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın verileri araştırmacılar tarafından literatür taraması sonucu hazırlanan “Kişisel Bilgi Formu” ve “Üniversite Öğrencilerinde Kadın Algısı Ölçeği” kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Öğrencilerin yaş ortalaması 20.62 ± 3.43 olup, %87.2’si kadın, %39.8’i Ebelik bölümü, %29.7’si Hemşirelik Bölümü öğrencisidir. Öğrencilerin Üniversite Öğrencilerinde Kadın Algısı Ölçeği toplam puan ortalaması 102.78 ± 6.41’dir. Öğrencilerin kadın algılarının cinsiyet, medeni durum, yaşamının çoğunu geçirdiği yer, beraber yaşadığı birey, anne- baba durumu, burs veya kredi alma durumu ve şiddete uğrama durumu faktörlerinden etkilendiği belirlenmiştir. Araştırma sonucumuz ile benzer olarak kadın algısının yaş, cinsiyet gibi bireysel özelliklerin yanı sıra sosyal, kültürel ve ekonomik faktörlerden de etkilenmektedir. Bu araştırmanın sonuçları, araştırmaya katılan öğrenciler ile sınırlıdır. Kadın algısı yalnızca bireysel faktörlerden değil, aynı zamanda içinde bulunulan sosyal, kültürel ve ekonomik çevreden güçlü biçimde etkilenmektedir.
