The research aims to comparatively examine the spelling and punctuation achievement set out in the 2019 Turkish Language Curriculum and the spelling and punctuation learning outcomes in the Education Model 2024 Secondary School Turkish Language Curriculum, alongside their implementation in 5th-grade Turkish textbooks prepared on the basis of these curricula. Based on document analysis, the learning outcomes and achievement in thecurricula and the instructions, activities, and evaluation-assessment practices in the textbooks were evaluated using descriptive analysis methods. The findings show that in the 2019 Curriculum, spelling and punctuation were distributed across five achievement, whereas in the 2024 Curriculum, they were organised as a single learning outcome. In addition, it has been noted that the textbook, prepared on the basis of the 2024 Curriculum, places greater emphasis on fluent reading components. Furthermore, it has been observed that the textbook in question covers both activity and written expression processes in the teaching of spelling and punctuation. In terms of evaluation-assessment, it has been observed that the book prepared in accordance with the 2019 Curriculum utilises traditional tools, whereas the book prepared within the framework of the Education Model adopts alternative approaches. Overall, it has been demonstrated that there is a difference in approach between the two curricula in the context of teaching spelling and punctuation, and that Turkish textbook applications have changed accordingly. Based on these findings, several recommendations have been developed.
